John works as a teacher trainer and consultant in schools. He has a unique ability to relate to teachers, school staff and managers; he is able to gain a quick understanding of underlying dilemmas and develop solutions to difficulties in partnership with school staff and students.

John’s training days typically focus on classroom engagement. They are based on careful prior discussion and investigation and always involve staff sharing good practice with one another.  His consultancy methods are built around solution-focused approaches and action-learning methodology.  When acting as a consultant John is able to call on the support of a range of leading educationalists.

John has been involved in education for 40 years.  During that time he was worked as a teacher, a lecturer, a manager and a trainer as well as acting as a consultant to a wide range of schools, local authorities and school support agencies.   OFSTED described his leadership of Southwark’s Pupil Referral Unit as ‘outstanding’ and ‘inspirational’.   John was responsible for reconfiguring the influential Assertive Discipline training videos for British schools and he has continued to influence thousands of teachers through his popular Teachers’ Television programmes, ‘Teaching with Bayley’.  He is the co-author of a handbook on training teachers in behaviour management.

John is a fantastic communicator and inspiration in the arena of managing children’s behaviour. I have worked with him over the last 15 years in three schools to introduce the principles of assertive discipline and in training my staff. John’s dry, calm humour and pragmatic style is popular and effective with teachers. I know that his influence has transformed aspects of my school and I am certain he can do the same for yours.

A brilliant and versatile trainer. I have no hesitation in recommending John Bayley. His particular strength is classroom management and he has helped turn around our student’s behaviour. He has also trained our prefects, Big Sisters and those girls involved in our Student Voice programme. His delivery is highly engaging both staff and students look forward to CPD days with John.
